“The seemingly simple construction of biathlon tracks turned out to be a major challenge, particularly in terms of the feasibility of laying the structural and asphalt layers. This was due to the extreme longitudinal and transverse slopes, which even experienced machine operators found daunting. In some places, on slopes with a gradient exceeding 25 percent, we were practically at the limit of what construction machinery could handle, and even transporting the material to those areas was often a major challenge. “In total, we moved over 25,000 cubic meters of soil here. We managed the construction, and I think the result is brilliant,” says site manager Tomáš Juřica, reflecting on the extraordinary project.
