Start of construction of the Northern Connector in České Budějovice

29.11.2024

On Thursday, November 28, we ceremoniously laid the foundation stone for the northern connector, which will connect road I/20 from the roundabout at Globus to the intersection of Nemanická, Okružní, and Pražská streets. Along the 2.5-kilometer-long route, a new suspended bridge over the Vltava will also be built, which will include a lane for pedestrians and cyclists. The first cars will drive on the two-lane road, which will also run under the railway corridor, in just three years.

Along with the city's bypass in the form of the D3 highway, three newly constructed sections of which the Road and Motorway Directorate will put into operation this year, the northern connector represents a fundamental solution to the complicated traffic situation in the regional city.

For more information about the construction, you can find it in the information leaflet from the Road and Motorway Directorate.
