Reconstruction of Road III/10140 near Cvrčovice

17.01.2024

We, the Swieteláci, completed three out of four phases of the challenging reconstruction of road III/10140 in December of last year. It was a section 2.3 km long that runs through the village of Cvrčovice in Central Bohemia, connecting the Kladno suburb of Vrapice with the village of Brandýsek.

During the control borings, a penetration macadam with a very high content of PAH was found under the original asphalt, which is classified as hazardous waste. After this finding, the work procedure had to be changed, and we agreed with the investor on cold recycling for the full length and width of the reconstruction – a total of about 20,000 m2.

In the first and second phases, we gradually milled the original asphalt layers, repaired the sunken edges, built several cross and longitudinal culverts, and repaired the inadequate ditches. Then came the actual recycling, followed by the laying of new asphalt.

The third phase took place directly in the village of Cvrčovice. It required coordination with the waterworks, as the reconstruction of the water supply network was also taking place in the village simultaneously with our reconstruction. At the same time, we also had to maintain access for the supply of the well-known Cvrčovice bakery.

The construction was carried out by Swieteláci from the Transport Construction STŘED plant, in the Prague area.
