At the end of May, the modernization of the railway line between Prague-Ruzyně and Kladno was officially launched. This is the longest phase of the Prague–Airport–Kladno project, which will eventually connect the capital, Václav Havel Airport, and Kladno via a modern, high-speed, high-capacity railway.

The 15-kilometer-long section will run partly along a new route. Thanks to the modern track, straightened curves, and electrification, trains between Ruzyně and Kladno will be able to travel significantly faster than today – up to 145 km/h. A significant increase in capacity will result from the addition of a second track along the entire length of the section. The project also includes the modernization of railway stations and the construction of new stops, which will increase both capacity and the reliability of service. A P+R parking lot with connections to bus service will be built at the Malé Přítočno stop.

SWIETELSKY Rail CZ is participating in the construction as a member of the contractor consortium. Completion of the project is scheduled for 2029. The modernized line will significantly facilitate daily travel between Prague and Kladno, improve connections to Václav Havel Airport, and support the further development of rail transport in the metropolitan region.
