Construction of the D3 Highway in the Section Nažidla – Dolní Dvořiště

12.03.2024

With the commencement of earthworks for the future D3 highway near the border with Austria, an archaeological survey also began. Given the location of the construction near the demarcation line of World War II, finds of ammunition and ordnance were anticipated near Dolní Dvořiště.

The archaeologists' expectations were fulfilled – dozens of kilograms of ammunition, fragments of short firearms, and even equipment and personal items of soldiers were found here. The ammunition was dangerous for transport, so it was disposed of by the pyrotechnicians through controlled detonation. The other finds were transported to the museum's depository.

Work is now continuing according to schedule, and preparations for the foundation of bridge SO 217 are currently underway.

The new section of the D3 Nažidla – Dolní Dvořiště will be opened in 2026.
